| I've been a member for almost 5 years! This place has been dead for 3.5 of those 5 years..if not more. Does this prove that ALL things are fads and will quickly fade away? What makes something timeless? Will Facebook be timeless? It seems they've got more staying power than myspace...I cancelled my myspace like 2 years ago...but my face book account continues on. I guess I'm wondering if in the next few years or so, will I be completely over Facebook, just like I got over Xanga? (no offence). I do have to say, I miss being able to leave a nice long letter about what I'm thinking. Not just a quick update, which is what facebook has turned into. I don't think people have time these days to sit down and read people's looonnnggg ramblings. I'm already annoyed with people who leave a status update longer than 3 lines. It's just to tedious to read the whole thing anymore. Also, it seems that we are losing grasp on who our true friends are. Who do we really care about? At least 85% of my friends on face book, well, I am no longer in communication with. Every once in a while I'll give em a little shout out, but I really couldn't care about a long explanation of how their life currently is going. I started looking through my friends list, NOT RECOGNIZING SOME OF THESE PEOPLE!!! What's wrong here? I think we get excited when we meet someone, and find out their on face book. Well that friends list number MUST grow, so I'ma look them up as soon as I get a chance. Wait I can look it up right now on my new 3gs I-phone! Request...Accepted. With xanga, somehow my friends list was true to it's name. These were my friends, and if they took time to read my blog, they'd comment, or send eprops etc...This thing is like an online diary, something facebook lacks since there is too much going on. Sometimes things need to be kept simple, and xanga had that. Now I must admit, it's been almost 3 years since I've been on here, so I'm not sure how much has changed and where xanga's focus has gone...but I still look back and smile thinking about my Xanga days! I wonder if any one will ever come back... |
